The standard monthly pattern of services at each of our churches is below.

Please see weekly listings of service in the current newsletter for details, and in particular for any changes from the regular pattern.

Sundays at St Mary’s, Ross-on-Wye

8.00 a.m. – Said Holy Communion (Common Worship Order 2)
Order 2 is in traditional language. This service is said, no hymns, no fuss and lasts about 45 minutes. It takes place in the Markye Chapel at St Mary’s. It has a small and loyal congregation made up of people who like to be up and about early!

9.30 a.m. – Sung Eucharist (Common Worship Order 1) – All Age on the 4th Sunday
The main service at St Mary’s each week. Music is supported by St Mary’s choir, hymns are selected from a range of styles and the main parts of the service are also sung. The monthly music list can be found here. There is a Sunday school most weeks (Sunday Kids). Coffee is served in the church after the service. On the fourth Sunday of each month the service follows a simpler and shortend pattern, occasionally not a Eucharist.

6.30 p.m. – Choral Evensong (Book of Common Prayer) 2nd and 4th Sundays, (4.00 p.m. between Advent and Ash Wednesday)
A perfect end to a Sunday. This is a full “cathedral” style service, sung mainly by the choir and with three hymns for members of the congregation who wish to join in. You are welcome to come and cosy-up to the choir in the Chancel or to sit quietly in the nave and let it all happen. The monthly music list can be found here.

6.30 p.m. – Freespace on occasional 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month
Freespace is a new style of service that we are trialling. It is a very relaxed and informal time of contemporary worship and prayer.  As it’s name suggests there is plenty of space in the service for an unstructured approach to develop.

Sundays at St Michael’s, Walford

1st Sunday – 9.30 a.m. – Morning Prayer (Common Worship)
The Church of England’s new liturgy for Morning Prayer. The service contains music.

2nd Sunday – 9.30 a.m. – Family Service
The Walford Family Service is always very popular. The service is quite informal and very child friendly. Refreshments are served in church after the service. Music is modern and informal, sometimes led by a music group.

3rd Sunday – 9.30 a.m. – Parish Communion (Common Worship  Order 1)
This is the main service at Walford on the third Sunday of the month. The service, in contemporary language, is punctuated by hymns that are selected from a range of styles.

4th Sunday – 11.15 a.m. – Family Service / Communion (Common Worship  Order 1)
Another chance to enjoy a family friendly service, which on alternate months includes a Communion service.  Refreshments served beforehand from 10:45am.

5th Sunday – 9.30 a.m. – 1662 Matins / 1662 Communion
On these occasional dates we like to worship with a more traditional style (alternation between Matins and Communion) so come along for our 1662 format on the 5th Sundays in the month.
